Natural Health Product Licensing

To sell natural health products in Canada, companies must obtain a product licence called a Natural Product Number (NPN). Detailed information must be provided to, and assessed by, the Natural and Non-Prescription Health Product Directorate (NNHPD), a subdivision of Health Canada. Once NNHPD has determined that the product is safe, effective, and of high quality, an NPN or DIN-HM (Homeopathic Medicine Number) will be granted.

We help clients review, prepare, and submit NPN applications, obtaining a product licence to sell their products in Canada and through Amazon.

Site Licensing

A “Site Licence” is issued to Canadian Importers, manufacturers, packagers, and labellers, when they can provide sufficient evidence of procedures or processes that comply with Canadian Good Manufacturing Practices.

The company must provide evidence through Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that proper processes are in place; including receiving natural health products, clean premises with a good sanitation program, and an up-to-date recall system in place, among others, all with good records and GMP procedures.

We help clients apply for a site licence and obtain a Foreign Site Reference Number (FSRN).

Cosmetic Notifications

Manufacturers and importers of cosmetic products must notify Health Canada of the cosmetic within 10 days after the cosmetic is sold in Canada. A complete list of ingredients and their concentrations must be declared in a notification, ensuring that only the approved ingredients are within the product. A notification number is then issued for the individual’s personal records.

Cosmetics for which a notification is not submitted risk a denied entry into the country or removal from sale.

We review cosmetic formulas, prepare Cosmetic Notifications, and review cosmetic labels.

Veterinary Health Product Registrations

To sell a Veterinary Health Product in Canada, a notification must be sent to Health Canada 30 days prior to the product’s first sale. The submitted information is reviewed to ensure compliance with Food and Drug Act regulations.

We review the product formula and provide comprehensive support throughout the application process.

Translations

Canada is an officially bilingual country, with approximately one-third of the population either completely or partially French-speaking. The French that is spoken in Quebec is not exactly like that which is spoken in France. Our English-to-French translators have worked for the Quebec provincial government and provided proper Québécois French translations.

Our quotes include French translations for product licence applications, cosmetic notifications, and food label reviews.

Food Label Reviews

A Safe Food for Canadians licence must be completed by the person selling the product in Canada.

We review food labels, ensuring that the packaging is compliant with the regulations.
